Me My name is Antonio Paolillo, I'm a full-time professor in Computer Science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in the SOFT Languages Lab.

In 2018, I received a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) under the supervision of Pr. Joël Goossens.
During these 6 years, I also worked as an operating system engineer in a spin-off company of the university, called HIPPEROS.
Afterwards, I spent 6 months as a freelance software engineer, before joining Huawei for 4 years as an Operating System Software Architect & Expert.

With 10+ years of experience in both Research and Software Development, I solve challenging problems with strong theoretical roots that are practical and industry-related. My scholar background led me to strongly value theoretical and technical knowledge.

I focus on low-level and system software development, including demanding challenges such as efficiency, parallelism and concurrency. I apply state-of-the-art software engineering practices (such as Agile and Continuous Integration) to facilitate the development and the validation of such complex systems.

My research interests gravitate towards embedded and real-time systems, operating systems design, modern heterogeneous multi-core platforms (with multiple CPU, GPU and FPGA) and digital system design under hardware physical constraints. I'm also curious about all mathematics and sciences in general.
