Courses

Performance Analysis and Evaluation

6 ECTS · Master · Semester 2

Performance evaluation as an experimental science: measurement methodology, statistical analysis, and reproducible benchmarking using benchkit and real system workloads.

Operating Systems and System Fundamentals

6 ECTS · Bachelor 2 · Semester 2

Students build a minimal kernel (“ToyOS”) bottom-up on AArch64/QEMU using C and Assembly, then explore Linux internals top-down.

Compilers

6 ECTS · Master · Semester 2

Students incrementally build a complete ChocoPy-to-RISC-V compiler through a sequence of lab assignments: scanner, parser, semantic analysis, code generation, and optimizations.

Programming Project 2

6 ECTS · Bachelor · Full year

Year-long project in which teams design and build a substantial application combining a graphical user interface, a relational database and client/server networking, delivered in iterative cycles of design, implementation, testing, documentation and demonstration, and defended orally at each phase.

Operating Systems for Heterogeneous Computing

6 ECTS · Master · Semester 2

GPU programming (CUDA/OpenCL) meets OS-level resource management for heterogeneous platforms.

Starting academic year 2026–2027 (Semester 2)

Postgraduate Programme

Inter-university Certificate in Critical Embedded Systems (CRES2FC)

Academic director (VUB side) · UCLouvain & VUB · Fridays, one academic year

Postgraduate programme for working professionals in embedded software engineering, jointly run by UCLouvain and VUB with industry partners Alstom and AISIN. I am responsible for the operating-systems and real-time module and teach the operating-systems basis, collaborative development tools, and performance sessions. Second edition starts January 2027.

Curriculum Pipeline

I am building a coherent systems curriculum pipeline spanning programming languages (Compilers), system internals (Operating Systems and System Fundamentals), heterogeneous platforms (Operating Systems for Heterogeneous Computing, from 2026–2027), and measurement and evaluation (Performance Analysis and Evaluation), giving students a full-stack understanding from abstraction to empirical validation. Research artifacts such as benchkit and Docker/QEMU environments are integrated directly into the teaching materials, and all course slides share one Typst template.

Thesis Supervision

24 bachelor and master theses supervised at VUB as promotor or co-promotor between 2023 and 2026 (8 bachelor, 16 master).
